shop: V&A

I really like the new V&A shop bags. That is all.

knots tied

Yesterday one of my oldest friends got married. She sourced all the dusky roses herself and together with her mum did all the flower arranging for the venue. Best of all, I got to keep a bunch.

theatre: She Stoops to Conquer, National Theatre

On Easter Monday I had a fun evening out at the National Theatre to see She Stoops to Conquer, a joyously fresh and funny Restoration Comedy.

I was going through some old photo albums today when I found these Holga pictures from a trip I went on a couple of years ago to Eastbourne and Brighton.  I used a severely expired role of film (something I never do) and it was about a year after the trip that I got around to developing them but I was pleasantly surprised with the soft blue and pink hues.

post: Young Colossus

This arrived for my sister the other day and I couldn't help but nab it to show it off. It is Young Colossus, a frankly gorgeous book and CD, both written by Orlando Weeks (him off of the Maccabees) with illustrations by Robert Hunter. I wish I had one for myself.

theatre: The Duchess of Malfi, Old Vic

The other day I saw the Duchess of Malfi at the Old Vic. It has got everything you'd expect from a classic Jacobean play - romance, gore, incest, humour and all of it is played with a striking humanity. The set is beautiful too. photo Claire Evans

Google Earth

I know I'm about five years behind with this but lately I've been geeking out on Google Earth.  I can't get enough of the patchwork patterns we've left over the earth.  There's barely a untouched part, even islands in the farthest reaches have squares etched on the land.  Here are a couple of photos of the more arid parts of Turkey, I'm obsessed with the sandy colours.

It is fairly safe to assume that if Present and Correct sell it, I will like it. However I think their new timetable rubber stamp might just be my new favourite thing in the world.

The Wapping Project

Popped into the cavernous Wapping Project for tea and cake.  Outside is a bookshop in a greenhouse that is never open when I am around.
